Dorothy Ann Bacon, 91, of Madisonville, KY passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at her residence in Madisonville.
Dorothy was born January 7, 1934, in Madisonville, KY, to the late James Cornelius Bohan and Fannie Bell Poag Bohan.
Dorothy worked as an elementary school teacher for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville. She was a graduate of Madisonville High School, Murray State University, and Peabody College. She loved reading, especially to her grandchildren. She also worked in the church nursery for over 50 years.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Reid Bacon; daughters, Kim (Mike) Buckman of Madisonville and Kelly (David) Elliott of Burns, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Chelsea) Buckman, AnnMarie (Justin) Sherman, Ashlee (Justin) Roberts, Libby Elliott, and Sam (Emma) Elliott; great grandchildren, Khloe Buckman, Oakley Buckman, Addy Sherman, and Kinsley Sherman; along with two great grandchildren on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2025 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel with Rev. Jim McMurtrie officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Elliott, Mike Buckman, Chris Buckman, Sam Elliott, Justin Sherman, and Justin Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be AnnMarie Sherman, Libby Elliott, Ashlee Roberts, Chelsea Buckman, and Emma Elliott.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Sunrise Children’s Services, or The Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
