Tommy Junior Wix age 71 of Madisonville passed away January 22, 2025 at 11:57 a.m. at Deaconess Health Madisonville. He was born May 29, 1953 in Madisonville to Loyd Lee and Ruby Dixie Roalin Wix.
He was a coal miner for many years and last worked at Jennmar. He was a member of Abundant Grace Fellowship church which he co-pastored with his wife Karen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers David Franklin Wix and Carl Gene Wix.
He is survived by his wife Karen and daughter Missy, both of Madisonville, 2 brothers Charles Wix and his wife Gloria of Mayfield, KY, Johnny Wix and his wife Libby of Earlington, KY, and two sisters Eve Owens and her husband Louie of Mortons Gap, KY, and Ruby Kiscaden of Earlington, KY. He is also survived by a loving brother and sister-in-law Lucian and Sandra Love and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tommy loved Jesus more than anything and loved his family and church family. He was a devoted husband for 52 years and a wonderful, devoted father who loved Missy more than life itself. Tommy loved to hunt and to fish but his passion, as he grew older, was for people to be born into the Kingdom of God. He was a strong prayer warrior and never doubted that God could do the impossible! There was not any area of the church that he was not involved with but one of his greatest joys has been serving as a teacher in our Treasured Possessions class on Wednesday night. He loved encouraging young people to serve Jesus. He also sang on the praise and worship team.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12:00PM at Abundant Grace Fellowship church in Madisonville with Bro. Roy Ellis officiating. There will be a private family burial.
Visitation will be held on Saturday. January 25, 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the church.
Pallbearers are Mel Love, Mark Love, JR Wix, Chris Wix, Cole Wix and Mark Wix.
The family requests any memorial contributions be made to Abundant Grace Fellowship Missions Department in lieu of flowers.
Tommy loved our missionaries and there is no better way we can honor him.
