It is with heavy hearts but unwavering hope in the promises of Christ that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Charlotte Opal Durham Lutz, 89, of Manitou, KY. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.
She was born on March 22, 1935, in Pike County, Indiana to the late Irene Denton Durham and Cecil Durham. A devoted Christian woman, Charlotte lived her life as a testament to God’s love and grace. Her faith was her anchor, and she shared that love with all who were blessed to know her. Whether through her prayers, her encouragement, or her example, she touched countless lives.
Her greatest joy was the Lord and her family. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling, aunt, and friend, she made everyone around her feel cherished and valued. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and wise counsel were a source of strength and comfort to all. Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion. She was a teacher aide for the Hopkins County Board of Education. She enjoyed painting, gardening, canning, and sewing. Her greatest joy was her relationship with her Lord Jesus and spending time with her family. Charlotte was a member of Nebo Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Lawrence “Wayne” Lutz.
Survivors include her son, Michael Lutz of Manitou; daughter, Charlene Nevitt of Brentwood, TN; sister, Georgia Stanley of Orlando, FL, and Sharon (Donald) Tompkins of Slaughters, KY; brother, Jimmy Durham of Nebo, KY; grandson, Craig Lawrence Nevitt of Madisonville, KY; granddaughter, Kylie Alaine Nevitt of Brentwood; great-granddaughters, Charlie Little and Ollie Little, both of Brentwood; and several nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
