The Madisonville man jailed on rape and sexual abuse charges will be in court on December 13th. 43-year-old Kenneth Stafford has been booked into the county jail. Police say his victim was under 12 years age and that the abuse occurred over a span of several years. Stafford faces five charges. The M-P-D is commending the bravery of the victim for speaking up.
The state is improving South Main Street with a concrete patching project. It’s expected to take two weeks. All of the work will be conducted at night. And you should know that the six-year road plan includes upgrading South Main Street, but funding is not scheduled until at least 2029.
A mysterious gas leak is nothing new. One was reported in the area of Princeton Road and Osborne Lane on Tuesday evening. The fire department could not locate the smell of natural gas and suspected that the odor was coming from a natural gas transfer station.
Hopkins County now has its own film commission. Presently, a second movie in Madisonville is in production. Mayor Kevin Cotton says this one will be called the Christmas Pitch.
The mayor says extras will be needed. A few months ago, the film entitled Playing for Mozart was shot locally and is now in post production.

Madisonville’s Christmas parade is Saturday starting at 5. From East North Street, it turns onto Main and ends at McCoy Avenue. The police are asking that no vehicles be parked on Main Street from Arch Street to Broadway.
When the police are searching for someone and a car pass by with a person crouching down so as not to be seen, it makes sense to follow the car. During the traffic stop on West Center Street at about 2 AM recently, Braxton Hayes took off running but could not escape. It was learned that Hayes had two arrest warrants and was transferred to the county jail.
Madisonville has a gathering intended to allow military members of the present and past to share their ideas as to how the community can increase its reputation as being veteran-friendly. At this week’s Hero’s Hour at City Hall, there were discussions about expanding Veterans Day celebrations, and innovative plans to engage younger generations in military service.
A collaboration between the state and Kentucky Community & Technical College System campuses is working to offer a pathway toward bachelor’s degrees in Social Work for people in recovery who already have a peer support specialist certification. Carl Wilson with the Kentucky Council on Secondary Education says it also provides opportunities for those in recovery to make a living and expand their career horizons.
The C-D-C says Kentucky ranks among the top ten states for drug overdose deaths.
The Madisonville Regional Airport in Anton has a family Christmas event. The Flight Before Christmas is Sunday the 8th from 1 until 4. At 2 o’clock, Santa arrives via helicopter.
