Maurice Earl Wilson, 90, of Madisonville, KY, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered into his eternal rest on the morning of Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at his home.
He was born on August 13, 1934, in Dalton, KY, to the late Susie Ethel Lynch Wilson and Archie Earl Wilson. He grew up alongside brothers, James and Paul.
In his young career he worked for the Prudential Insurance company of America for several years. He was a member of UMWA, working several years as an underground coal miner. He served under four different sheriff administrations for Hopkins County. He was a member of the fiscal court for Hopkins County. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #143 in Madisonville Kentucky for over 50 years. Maurice was also a member of the West Kentucky Consistory, 32nd degree and a proud member of Victory Church since 1992.
Through it all he demonstrated his love for his family, providing for their needs physically, emotionally and spiritually. Everything he did, he did with excellence and always gave glory to God, sharing the love of Jesus with anyone and everyone he could. Maurice was an inspiration to his family, friends and community, a selfless laborer, and a man full of love and laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of dignity, respect, and compassion. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Marlene Hancock Wilson; brothers, Paul A. Wilson and James Ernest Wilson.
Survivors include his children, Roger Wilson of Madisonville, Steve (Shelly) Wilson of Gray, GA, Sherry (Jerry) Impervento of Hanson, KY; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Kris Goodman officiating and Pastor Dan Saunders assisting. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
