In Madisonville, the Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation is developing a property that will meet the needs of prospective industries. The 17-acre industrial site along U-S 41-A is nearing Build-Ready Certification. The E-D-C says speed to market is essential for attracting businesses and creating jobs.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol is responsible for the single vehicle collision with two utility poles in Dixon on Monday. Arrested at 2 o’clock in the morning on U-S 41-A South was Grace Atkinson. Deputies report that live wires were hanging dangerously low over the road following the incident. Atkinson is being charged with driving Under the Influence of alcohol and controlled substances.
A Kentucky congressman is working to root out waste in the federal government. Representative James Comer has created a Subcommittee on Government Efficiency. Mr. Comer says even the Cabinet is being evaluated.
In Western Kentucky, the Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring the bell. The organization says its services are needed now more than ever, with families affected by higher prices in most every area. The 2-hour bellringing shifts continue through Christmas Eve. The impact of the a partnership to improve economic and community growth should soon be more noticeable in Western Kentucky. The Pennyrile Area Development District says the Delta Regional Authority that is based in Clarksdale-Mississippi has been coaching PADD, Green River, and Purchase on how to more effectively apply for and administer the D-R-A funds.
The Madisonville police are charging the man who ran a red light on Sunday evening with three crimes. Jeremy Merchant also was not in possession of his driver’s license, and was a convicted felon with a firearm in the vehicle. The arrest occurred on North Main.
Madisonville’s Christmas parade is put on annually by the Noon Kiwanis Club. Spokesperson Stephanie Townsell Bowles says prizes are awarded to the best floats. The parade will be on Saturday, the 7th at 5.

The Ohio Valley League is adding a team. The Full Count Rhythm based in Hendersonville-Tennessee was in the O-V-L for two years before dropping out and missing last season. The league is now back to six teams for the 2025 season. The O-V-L is a wooden bat league for college players, and is the only college sports competition in Hopkins County.
