A financial argument is what led to a domestic violence incident in Madisonville. The victim says her husband choked her and held her against her will at their Hall Street residence. The police said there were marks on her throat. Tony Lee Himes was transported to the detention center.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office has a new, high tech crime fighting tool. The Webster County Farm Bureau has given the agency a state-of-the-art drone. It will help law enforcement in search and rescue missions, accident scene assessments, hazardous materials response and aerial support during tracking operations.
In Madisonville, city offices will be closed on Thanksgiving and Friday, the 29th. The Sanitation Department will be closed those days as well. The trash schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday will be on Tuesday. The Thursday and Friday routes will be done on Wednesday.
Preparations are underway for Madisonville’s Christmas parade. Last year was a record breaking year for entries. Speaking for the Noon Kiwanis Club is Stephanie Townsell Bowles.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says this is the peak time of year for deer collisions. One body shop is already reporting 15 tow-ins in the last couple of weeks from deer hits. Deer related crashes can cost thousands to repair. The state police say wear your seatbelt, put the phone down and be especially be cautious in rural areas.

In Madisonville, a firm has been hired to manage and operate the new sports and recreation facility that is now known as the Kentucky Sports Factory. Mayor Kevin Cotton says the Sports Facilities Companies has a proven track record in managing sports and event venues. He says they will handle all aspects of daily operations. Cotton expects the Kentucky Sports Factory to make an economic impact and foster community engagement.
The M-P-D has this report on a trespassing arrest. Thursday afternoon at Bealls in the Parkway Plaza Mall, the police stopped Katrina Davis as she was about to leave the store with a bag full of unpaid for clothes. Earlier this year, Davis had been warned not to return to the store. This time she was arrested.
In Western Kentucky, all of the aviation talk these days is about the new hangar at the Greenville Airport. The deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Aviation says the expectations of this addition to the Muhlenberg aviation industry are high. Here’s Brad Schwandt.

Kentucky’s medical cannabis is underway. Over 150 doctors are already certified to issue marijuana recommendations, and the state is also taking steps to simplify the registration process for patients. The office of medical cannabis has issued 29 licenses to cultivators, safety compliance facilities and processors. You can now not only go online and find the practitioners, but you can go ahead and see them and have your written certification issued.
