Hopkins County is making a new effort at addressing nuisance violations. In Fiscal Court, County Attorney Lee Riddle announced that Josh Gunn has been appointed the code enforcement officer.

The Madisonville police report that no shots where fired even though the armed man who was in a fight asked the cops to shoot him. 35-year-old Travis Collins of Madisonville faces 5 charges after being arrested at Pappy’s Gas Station on Grapevine Road on Monday evening. After being commanded by the officer to stop fighting, Collins finally threw the gun down and was taken into custody. Collins’ charges include unlawful imprisonment.
The MPD has the report on the reckless motorcyclist who was doing 60 in a 35-mile an hour zone. 27-year-old Chasten Bax of Madisonville was arrested Monday afternoon on North Kentucky Avenue. At one point, Bax almost struck an officer’s vehicle head-on. He ditched the bike behind the fairgrounds property and attempted to hide up a pile of leaves before he was captured. Bax faces 9 charges. They include no motorcycle license and wanton endangerment.
The state senator representing Hopkins and Henderson, Union and Webster Counties will be the majority caucus chair. Robby Mills will lead caucus meetings and promote member collaboration on key initiatives. Mills says all of the public pensions are steadily improving because of the Legislature’s full funding since 2017. The new session begins on January 7th.
The governor says this is Crash Responder Safety Week. Andy Beshear says these emergency responders and public safety personnel put their lives on the line daily. He says when they’re working, drivers are to slow down and move over.

Besides being there for you and me, the Madisonville Fire Department is always ready and willing to help. After arriving at 1-thousand Western Kentucky Parkway in Nortonville, the crew removed the driver’s side door along with the seat’s bracket, so that a data collection device could be accessed by the state police for use in an investigation.
It’s not unusual for a gas leak to forever remain a mystery. Such was the case with the Madisonville Fire Department last week when they arrived at 436 North Main only to discover no evidence that it ever occurred.
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville is using a new cath lab. Cardiac catheterization is usually done in a hospital room with special X-ray and imaging machines. Now, all the latest equipment and technology for the Cardiac Cath Lab is available here in Madisonville. The million dollar-plus purchase is being described as a significant achievement in patient care.
As the weather gets colder, it changes the way we do things outside…and inside. Christian Welgus on the National Weather Service reminds us this important point.

There’s a new cop on the force in Greenville. Ethan Wells was sworn in on Tuesday. Wells will attend the Department of Criminal Justice Training Western Academy in Madisonville beginning in January.
