The state senator that represents Hopkins County and three other counties is being honored by the Kentucky Association of Counties for his work during this year’s Legislative Session. Robby Mills of Henderson has held elective office in the Commonwealth since 2017.
The Madisonville woman who assaulted a police officer at 4 o’clock Monday morning is also charged with domestic violence and terroristic threatening. Shametrius Johnson was arrested at a home on Celeste Lane. As Johnson was being driven to jail, she kicked an officer and tried to kick out the back window of the police cruiser.
It’s believed that persons who visit the Madisonville-Hopkins County Sportsplex when it opens will wish it had been there where they were growing up. That’s the feeling of T-J Phaup. The sportsplex is around 3 to 4 weeks from opening day.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has this property tax note to pass along. To be helpful, the TAX OFFICE will be open until 6 again this evening.
The Hopkins County Genealogical Society is inviting the public to a Patriot Grave Marking Service. It’s to honor and sustain the memories of our Revolutionary War Patriot ancestors. The event for Mandley T. Winstead, who lived from 1760 until 1846, will be on Saturday, November 2nd, at noon at the Nebo Christian Church on Bernard street. Those attending should RSVP to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society.

A Crime stoppers tip is what led to the arrest of a man who had three arrest warrants. 21-year-old Seth Springer of Gilbertsville was in possession of meth, heroin, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia when he was arrested on Friday night in the 100 block of North Main.
Our state is in the process of licensing medical marijuana business firms. The first group of business licenses are being determined by lottery. Slaughter Branch L-L-C in Hopkins County is one of the first cultivators. One of the first processors is Kaldem Holdings in Muhlenberg County. Medical cannabis becomes legal on New Year’s day.
In Muhlenberg County, a solar farm is being proposed for Dunmor and Penrod. Lost City Renewables L-L-C will host a public meeting this evening from 6 until 8 at the Penrod Missionary Baptist Church in Dunmor at 778 KY-949.
The enrollment period for Kentuckians seeking health coverage through Kynect is November 1st to January 16th. Priscilla Easterling with Kentucky Voices for Health says that tax credit subsides can make health coverage for a family of four with an annual household income of 50-thousand dollars under thirty dollars a month.
