Beverly Anne Edens McGar, 77, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
She was born on January 20, 1947, in Detroit, MI, to the late Thelma Southerland Edens and Maurice Edens. She was formerly the owner/operator of The Sugar Shack Bakery and also a manager at Roses Department Store. She enjoyed crafts and had a passion for taking care of and feeding stray cats. Her greatest joy was spending time with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. Beverly was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church where she loved teaching Sunday School and was always involved with Vacation Bible School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of fifty-eight years, William “Bill” L. (Whitey) McGar; sister, Glenda Thompson; brother, Frank Edens; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Woods.
Survivors include her sons, Barry McGar and David (Lorraine) McGar, both of Madisonville, and William “Billy” (Lisa) McGar of Fayetteville, TN; daughters, Sherry (Kevin) Gipson of Madisonville and Shelia (Dan) Duncan of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Maurice (Carl) Jameson and Sandy Woods, both of Madisonville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Cary) Gray, Ryan (Sarah) McGar, Zachary Gipson, Patrick Gipson, Brian Gipson, Bradley McGar, Whitney (Ashton) McGar, Alaina (Preztin) VanCleve, Jessica Duncan, Jenna Duncan, and Justice (Jacob) Bolin; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Len Young officiating. Burial to follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Ryan McGar, Mycah Gray, Bradley McGar, Patrick Gipson, and Brian Gipson.
