In North Carolina, a U-Haul truck from Muhlenberg County packed with supplies for hurricane victims arrives today. The shipment includes supplies from Ohio and McLean counties. Those involved with the delivery plan to spend two weeks in the Tar Heel State.
The driver of a Chevrolet Impala that was continually crossing the fog line on I-69 Thursday morning near mile marker 118 is facing drug charges. During the traffic stop on Chelsea Drive, Philip Shelton admitted that his driver’s license was suspended and that he had an active arrest warrant. He was found to be in possession of suspected meth and two glass pipes. Shelton was transported to the detention center.

In Madisonville, a city councilman has saved the city thousands of dollars. The police department says Larry Noffsinger paid the full price of improving the police firing range. The cops say it had needed the work for some time. They also say it will benefit all of the Western Kentucky law enforcement agencies that will train there.
Some Muhlenberg County residents need to hear this. In case you were wondering, the loud rumbling noises or inaudible vibrations are coming from the Kentucky State Police training site. The K-S-P is conducting nighttime helicopter training with the Kentucky National Guard thru the 18th at the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center.
The Kentucky State Police is volunteering in Asheville in the major project to restore the city following the impact of the remnants of Hurricane Helene. They say the structural damage is mindboggling with areas completely covered in 20 to 30 feet of mud, making the area appear as if nothing had ever been there. Mudslides and flooding have ravaged the city. The sheriff’s office says it would take at least three months to restore water.
In Kentucky, non-partisan voter registration is up. The Hechinger Report says one of the reasons is that the Commonwealth has enacted abortion restrictions. Spokesman Jon Marcus says young people claim that they’re propelled by such concerns such as global warming, the economy, reproductive and L-G-B-T-Q-PLUS rights, student loan debt and gun safety.
