The funeral for the 2-month-old Madisonville boy who died five days ago is today. The service for Ayden Sing begins at 2 at Elliott-Bowles Mortuary. The boyfriend of Ayden Sing’s mother is charged with murder. 22-year-old Anthony Paige is in the Hopkins County Jail.
In Madisonville, a coffee shop customer is being charged with disorderly conduct. The employees at Simply Poured Coffee on Madison Square Drive described Gregory Montgomery as a nuisance due to his screaming in the shop. The police report says he kept screaming as he walked to the nearby Big Lots store.
The smell of gas is what sent the fire department to a residence in the 500 block of Pride Avenue. When a key holder provided a house key, they were informed that no one had lived in the house for years. The gas was shut off after Atmos Energy found a leak at the base of a meter.
Both the city and the county say they have put much thought into the sportsplex that will soon open. Mayor Kevin Cotton is excited about the impact of the venue.

The Hopkins County Humane Society has big plans for Thanksgiving. They hope to prepare a feast for all of the cats and dogs, but it will require some help from the animal loving public. They need donations of turkeys, canned carrots, green beans, and canned tuna in water…for the cats. On the 21st, they’ll begin preparing it. Donations can be dropped off at the Humane Society at 2210 Laffoon Trail.

Two women are charged with hindering the Madisonville police as they searched for a man with a felony arrest warrant. Talashiea (tuh-LASH-ee-uh) Martin and Seva (SEE-vuh) Martin were arrested Tuesday night as they pulled out of the driveway of the South Kentucky Avenue residence of De’Angelique Mcrath. Mcrath is charged with engaging in organized crime. The police had been monitoring the residence.
The Dawson Springs Independent Schools now have a working relationship with a Louisville-based education and workforce development program. Dataseam helps students explore career options by giving them hands-on work experience with high-end Apple workstations. Dataseam is focused on increasing representation in aerospace and I-T-related fields. Dataseam serves 40 percent of the state’s K through 12 public school students.
Kentuckians will vote this November on Amendment 2. If approved, it would change the Constitution to allow the allocation of public funds for school choice options beyond public schools. The executive secretary of the Council for Better Education says Kentucky’s public schools are woefully underfunded. Here is Tom Shelton.
Some Muhlenberg County residents will be glad to hear that FEMA is holding another public event to assist applicants. Homeowners and renters will be meeting FEMA reps with one-on-one assistance. The residents will have FEMA opportunities today and tomorrow (Saturday, October 11th and 12) at the Training Center at 61 Career Way.
