Ruth Ellen Cunningham McCarty, 66, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehabilitation in Madisonville.
She was born on September 18, 1957, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Montie “Bee” Clayton Cunningham and Hughston McCleon Cunningham. She enjoyed bingo and doing word searches and puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a member of Second Baptist Church in Madisonville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William David Cunningham, Hughston “Mac” Cunningham, and Larry Cunningham; sister, Lola Bee Ball; granddaughter, Peyton Wilson; and grandson, Jackon Carlson.
Survivors include her children, Anitra (Benjamin) Marks of Madisonville, Reginald (Kathy) Norris of Sacramento, KY, Rhiona Norris of Madisonville, Roger McCarty II of Madisonville, and Steven McCarty of Madisonville; sisters, Dean (Gene) Baggett of White Plains, KY, and Tempie Phelps of Manitou, KY; grandchildren, Hayden (Nicole) Marks, MaKenzie (Dalen) Gipson, Christian Silverio, Roger McCarty III, Damon Carlson, Ruth Mae McCarty, Monty McCarty, and Nathan Scheer; great-grandchildren, Coleson Marks and Raelyn Gipson; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Everett Shaw officiating. Burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Hayden Marks, Dalen Gipson, Terry McCarty, Christian Silverio, Steven McCarty, and Nathan Scheer.
