Eddie “Gene” Perkins,96, of Providence, KY passed away on Thursday August 29, 2024, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
Mr. Perkins was born on May 6, 1928, in Providence, KY, the son of the late Mr. Compton Perkins and Mrs. Lillie Mae Morehead Perkins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67, years, Ramona Marilyn “Sissie” Sigler Perkins in 2016; three sisters, and two brothers.
Mr. Perkins was a member of the Diamond Missionary Baptist Church, he owned and operated Perkins BBQ, he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, he was assigned to the amphibious forces in the European Theater, he was past Commander of the Providence VFW Post 5484, he was a member of the Good Sams RV club, he enjoyed spending time at the lake, KY Colonel.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Donnie) Throgmorton of Clay, KY; Kathy (Mike) Walker of Owensboro, KY; his son, Eddie Gene (Glenda) Perkins of Madisonville, KY. His grandchildren, Kristie Daugherty, Michael (Audrey) Throgmorton, Karrie (Craig) Utley, Jacob (Alison) Throgmorton, Jessica Perkins, and Whitney (Sam) Guill, His great grandchildren, Ellie Plunkett, Trinity (Aldo) Johnson Garcia, Olivia Utley, Amaya Perkins, Meagan (Dalton) Hunter, Molly Utley, Ezekiel Daugherty, Corben Throgmorton, Ryan Kate Perkins, Laney Throgmorton, Ansleigh Perkins, E.J. Perkins, Brantley Throgmorton, his great great grandchildren, Leo Plunkett, Scarlett Hunter.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday September 1, 2024, with Bro. Micah Kelley officiating with burial to follow in the White Oak Cemetery where the Hopkins County Honor Guard will provide graveside rites.
Visitation will be held from 3:000PM to 7:00PM on Saturday at Lewis Funeral Home LLC, and from 11:00AM until the service hour at 2:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be John McCormic, Mike Cardwell, junior pallbearer will be Brantley Throgmorton.
Pallbearers will be Michael Throgmorton, Jacob Throgmorton, Craig Utley, Sam Guill, Ezekiel Daugherty, Corben Throgmorton, Dalton Hunter
