The shopper who placed two rolls of ground beef and two rolls of chuck roast inside a black purse and attempted to walk away from Marketplace on South Main is facing charges. Sheila Stills’s license plate was provided to the police. They transferred her from her home to the detention center.
The Madisonville police say a man arrested for public intoxication was a man they had been looking for. Daylin Thompson admitted he was involved in a hit and run crash that had occurred earlier in the day. Thompson was arrested on Silkwood Avenue with another man just before 2 AM. He was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office says beware of phone calls from persons pretending to be with the sheriff’s office who want to collect a fine. The HCSO says they do not contact people by phone to collect fines. Officials say hang up and report the call to law enforcement.

One of the twin bridges in Henderson will have a major inspection today (Monday). Crews will block one lane of the southbound bridge from 9 until 3 to allow inspectors to access the bridge’s substructure for additional work needed to finalize inspection reports and prepare for upcoming repairs. In late August, temporary repairs were made to the bridge. Permanent repairs are scheduled for later this year.
It’s not smart to drive a car that’s not registered and has no insurance. The Madisonville police say Patricia Groves says two months ago, she purchased her Dodge Dart from her son. Then, she was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Central City. Now she is facing three charges.
A Madisonville driver is facing seven charges. It all began with a traffic stop because Duwayne Moore’s vehicle had items obstructing his vision. The officer was informed by Central Dispatch that there was an arrest warrant out for Moore. In resisting arrest, he had to be taken to the ground by the police. In the process, Moore had to be tazed. During the struggle, it’s believed Moore swallowed incriminating evidence. Moore is charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. A passenger was Tabitha Vaughn. The police say she was in possession of crack cocaine.

The award recognizes an exceptional city employee who performs at a distinguished level to improve local government and the community. Long’s efforts contribute to projects supporting economic development and infrastructure.
