The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of a man during a traffic stop. It occurred near Wheatcroft on State Route 109 North. The K9 named Boogie sniffed out a number of drug related items in the vehicle of Bradley Dunbar. Dunbar faces six charges, including operating a vehicle without a license, and possession of methamphetamine.
The Hopkins County Schools is proud of its leadership development class. The Rising Leaders Academy is an unpaid professional development program designed to train and prepare current certified staff for future school administration roles. Participants engage in monthly interactive sessions, group discussions, and job-shadowing activities facilitated by the superintendent and district leaders. The group was recognized during a special dinner at the Central Office.
The state police have a new tool. Governor Beshear says the 23-foot patrol boat will improve the KSP during times of high water and floods.
The U.S. Travel Association’s annual Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations is voting Team Kentucky’s Department of Tourism as having the best marketing campaign. They earned the Marketing Momentum Award. Our state is reaching unprecedented tourism figures.
Another person is behind bars in the death last week of a young Cleaton child. Jeff Barnett is charged with tampering with physical evidence. Barnett was 11-month-old Grayson Walton’s step-grandfather. Facing several charges in the case, including murder, is 19-year-old Elijah Mayes. The body of Walton was found last weekend in Barnett’s residence in the 300 block of Hillview Street. The FBI says that Mayes was supposed to be taking care of the young child.
Just like it says, the city of Madisonville has the Small Business Roundtable for small businesses. The next one is this morning at 9 at the City Hall conference room. It’s described as a chance to connect with other small business owners, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Corporation, and Tourist and Convention Commission.
There’s a new bank in Greenville. Actually, it’s at Muhlenberg County High School. The MCHS Bank is also a partnership with Old National Bank. It provides students with hands-on opportunities to learn banking concepts, customer service and cash handling. It also helps students develop and strengthen skills such as integrity, communication, and teamwork.
As we move closer to the fall, Kentuckians are invited to make their voices heard at the Citizen Foster-Care Review Boards’ virtual forums Residents can share their perspectives, learn more about the foster care system and help shape conversations about the needs of children and families.
