The funeral service for the 11-month-old Cleaton child who was found dead last weekend is today (Thursday). Grayson Walton was found dead inside a residence along Hillview Street on Saturday following a missing child investigation. Tucker Funeral Home will have the service in Central City at 1 o’clock. The police and the FBI say 19-year-old Elijah Mayes was arrested and charged with five crimes, including murder. Grayson’s family has a Go-Fund-Me campaign to handle funeral costs.
Sometimes a Madisonville cop does a traffic stop because there’s a question about a driver’s license plate. When that occurred recently to Ann Crawford on West Noel Avenue, it was found that her driver’s license was suspended and that she had no auto insurance. A search of her Ford Freestar produced a bag of marijuana and a partially smoked marijuana joint. Crawford was placed under arrest.
In Dixon, the Webster County Health Center is hosting a Strategic Health Initiative. Included will be two vaccination clinics. There will be one at Dixon Elementary on State Route 1340 this afternoon from 3 until 5:30. Next month, on the 17th, there will be one at the Health Center on Clayton Avenue from 9 until 11:30 . The Madisonville police are reporting a car chase that included two counties. They tried to pull over 26-year-old Jaylen Hoosier on suspicion of DUI. The chase included Dawson Springs and Hopkinsville, and finally ended on I-69 when Hoosier ran over some spike strips. More details about this crime are expected
It appears that a personal care home in Madisonville will soon be closing its doors. Media reports indicate that the state visited the Homestead Personal Care Home at 384 Thompson Avenue and directed management to find homes for the residents before they shut the place down. The list of unhealthy conditions is long, and its financial condition is also questionable.
The NAACP Kentucky State Convention begins tomorrow (Friday) in Central City. The organization says the 78th annual event is an opportunity to come together in fellowship, reflection, and action as they work to advance justice, equality, and opportunity. They see the convention as a time to share ideas, address the challenges, celebrate progress, and create meaningful and lasting change.
This is big news for 130,000 Kentuckians with medical debt. Starting right away, the nonprofit known as Undue Medical Debt will be acquiring medical debt from participating hospitals and collection agencies. Here is Governor Beshear.
The governor says the first 46,000 qualified residents will have up to 100 million dollars in medical debt erased. The breakdown has $100 dollars erased for every one dollar spent. To qualify, a resident owes at least 5 percent of their annual income for outstanding medical bills, or earns at or below 400 percent of the federal poverty level
