Gary David Wood, 76, of Madisonville, KY , passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville. He was born on December 21, 1949, in Hopkinsville, KY to the late Aubrey Hay Wood and Henrietta Marie Mitchell Wood.
Gary was a proud Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Wanda Sue Stevenson.
He is survived by his daughters, Shawna Larrabee of Pembroke, KY, and Kristy (Mike) Burton of Spanish Fort, AL; his son, David Shay (Marcelina) Wood of Madisonville, KY; his sister, Bernadette Crunk of Hopkinsville, KY; his brother, Wayne (Linda) Wood of Hopkinsville, KY; and his grandchildren, Harrley, Zane, Ethan, Blake, Brylee, Logan, Kade, Bethany, Savannah, Gavin and Abi.
A private committal service will be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY at a later date.
