Debra Abbott Carter, 65, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehab in Madisonville.
She was born on August 5, 1961, in Madisonville, KY, to Audrey Proctor Abbott and the late Sidney Abbott. She enjoyed cooking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Debra attended Christian Tabernacle Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Abbott.
Her survivors include her mother, Audrey Proctor Abbott; daughter, Sarah (David) Jennings of Henderson, KY; brothers, Kenneth (Marsha) Abbott of Missouri, Jeffrey (Janet) Abbott, Willard Abbott, and Don Abbott, all of Madisonville; sister, Patricia Abbott of Madisonville; grandchildren, McKinzie Thompson, Angelina Carter, and Joseph Thompson; step-grandson, Jacob Short; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Junior Tingle officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Friday until the funeral hour on Friday.
Pallbearers are Junior Jennings, Sandra Cobb, Charlie Cobb, and David Jennings.
