David R. Cobb, 78, of Madisonville, KY, passed away August 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on April 2, 1948, in Athens, AL, to the late Luther Jackson Cobb and Christine Hasting Cobb.
David graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1971 with a Civil Engineering degree. He started his career as a mining engineer with Amex Coal before joining Donan Engineering in 1975. He then formed Danco Engineering with his business partner, which they ran for 16 years.
He rounded out his engineering career as Executive Vice President of Development for Armstrong Coal and retired in 2015.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Madisonville.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca Davis Cobb; his son, Patrick Cobb; his daughter, Valerie (Les) Hoover; his grandsons Taylor (Autumn) Cobb, Alex Back and Jackson Cobb; and his great-grandsons Beckham and Greyson Cobb; his brothers Donald (Lynette) Cobb and Stanley (Kelly) Cobb.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel with Brother Bill Burzynski officiating. His ashes will be spread at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home.
