Cops are good at noticing if a vehicle has an outdated registration tag. When Scott McCallister was stopped on West North Street, the officer brought that to the driver’s attention. In a short time, it was also found that McCallister’s auto insurance had expired. Then, a partially consumed alcoholic beverage container was located in his Dodge Dakota.
The Central City Fire Department knows what caused Tuesday’s home explosion. A large quantity of gasoline in 47-year-old Jimmy Bryant’s home on North 5th Street was ignited. Several neighborhood homes were damaged. The American Red Cross provided help. Bryant is still being treated. The city says the explosion will be investigated.
The Webster County Schools are out with a reminder. All children must be enrolled in school or have an established homeschool status. If there’s a child who is not enrolled, the matter must be cared for as soon as possible. If you have questions, visit or contact a school in your district.
In Washington, Congressman James Comer and the House Oversight Committee are working to protect taxpayers by rooting out fraud in state social programs. Mr. Comer was interviewed on the One America News.

There’s new leadership at the Salvation Army in Madisonville. Captain Dennis Smith and his wife most recently served in Morgantown-West Virginia. They say the primary purpose of their organization is to preach the gospel and help people.

The MPD is announcing an arrest at a safety checkpoint. Chandler Middleton had bloodshot and watery eyes, as well as body tremors. The officer also reported that he could smell marijuana. When Middleton refused to submit to a blood draw, he was arrested and transported to the detention center.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health is seeing an increased number of measles cases. They say the best protection is vaccination. They say the vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella is safe, effective, and widely available.
The governor says our senior senator absolutely refuses to make a two-minute proof-of-life video to reassure his constituents he is able to serve. Andy Beshear says he hopes Mitch McConnell is getting better but that he has heard absolutely nothing about his condition. The senator returned home on August 6 after a weeks-long stay in a D.C. hospital. Since then, there has been no updates.
