Malcolm Hanks, 78, of Manitou, KY, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Brighton Cornerstone Healthcare in Madisonville.
He was born on August 24, 1947, in Eddyville, KY, to the late Bessie Elliott Hanks and Raymond Hanks. He was employed as a coal miner for Perfect Circle Mines and retired from G.E. He loved mechanics and restoring vehicles. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Malcolm was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Draper, Nancy Siddon, Janice Maddox, and Grace Greenburg.
His survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Oakley Hanks; son, Daniel Hanks of Madisonville; daughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bishop of Madisonville; sisters, Sandra (Jackie) French of Madisonville, Vicky Hanks of Evansville, IN, and Debbie (Larry) Stewart of Charleston, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Parrish officiating. Burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Michael Siddon, Steven Stewart, Allan Ray Draper, Joe Maddox, Paul Engle, and Dan Prince.
