Keith A. Spence, 59, of Hanson, KY, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026, at his residence. He was born on June 8, 1967 in Hopkins County, KY to the late James Spence and Ruby Knapp Spence. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his nephew, Brad Basham.
Keith was a devoted husband, married to his beloved wife, Jodi Spence, for 32 years. Their life together was built on love, friendship, and countless memories. He treasured the time they spent together, especially the vacations and special moments they shared with one another and with friends.
Keith was an exceptional father to his two children, Dusti (Russell) Murray and Drew (Heather) Spence. His family was the center of his world, and he loved them with his whole heart. Some of his happiest moments were spent surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
For 22 years, Keith was a dedicated employee at Warrior Coal Mines. He genuinely loved his work and the men he worked alongside, forming friendships that lasted far beyond the job.
His strong work ethic, loyalty, and willingness to lend a helping hand earned him the respect of everyone who knew him. Keith especially cherished his six grandchildren, Maveric, Lahna, Mia, Zoe, Claire, and Layla, who lovingly knew him as Pappy. Being their Pappy was one of his greatest joys, and he treasured every moment spent making memories with them. The love and bond they shared will forever remain a beautiful part of his legacy.
Also left to remember Keith are his sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Rogalny, Kim (Larry) Basham, and DeAnn (Jeff) Qualls; and brother, Jamie (Denise) Spence. Outside of work, Keith looked forward to deer hunting each fall, especially when he could share those moments with family.
He also loved traveling, making countless memories on vacations with his beloved wife and dear friends. Whether at home or away, Keith treasured the time he spent with the people he loved most.
Keith was a wonderful friend to many, a down-to-earth man with a kind spirit, a generous heart, and an easy smile. He was someone people could count on, whether they needed advice, a helping hand, or simply someone to listen. His greatest legacy is the love he gave so freely to those around him.
Keith leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his love, strength, and the memories they created together. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his example of hard work, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday August 8, 2026, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel with Bro. Duane Burden officiating.
Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery in Manitou. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the service Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rogalny, Drew Spence, Maveric Brady, Russell Murray, Jamie Spence, and Doug Johnson.
