In Hopkins County, Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville is involved in a three-year construction and renovation program. The project includes 10 new operating rooms, renovations and expansion of the Mahr Cancer Center, and a new three-story medical office building at Mid Town Commons that will offer primary care, imaging, and laboratory services. The project is intended to make Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville a state-of-the-art healthcare facility.
The Hopkins County Fiscal Court meeets this morning at 10. New business includes a resolution to apply for Local Area Road Program Funds for Government Bend Road. The meeting will at the Government Center in Madisonville.
These are busy days for State Senator Robby Mills. He says he is presently participating in an American Legislative Exchange Council Energy, Environment and Agriculture Task Force Zoom meeting. Mill says the summer includes a number of meetings for his constituents in the 4th Senate district. Another busy lawmaker is Congressman James Comer. Last week in Washington he met with constituents from 14 counties including Webster and Hopkins.
Kentucky’s junior senator believes the covid coverup is vast and deep. Senator Rand Paul believes there is an effort to keep it under wraps forever.

Hopkins County is mournng the passing of a long-time public servant. Donnie Carroll served as the Judge-Executive of the Fiscal Court from 2007 through 2019. Previously, he also worked as the Hopkins County Sheriff and Jailer. He passed away at the age of 86 last Thursday. The funeral be tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2 at Immanuel Baptist Church on Brown Road. Military honors will be conducted by the Air Force and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
The Dawson Springs City Council meets this afternoon at 5:30. New business includes an update on the rebuild of the park. The meeting will be at 200 West Arcadia.
Leadership Hopkins County is now accepting proposals from eligible nonprofit organizations for community-based projects. The objective is to identify projects that will provide meaningful benefits to the community. Proposals will be reviewed on a competitive basis, and selected organizations may be invited to present additional details to the committee. The Green River Area Development District says the public comment period is now open. Residents are encouraged to review the proposed Transportation Improvement Program, and share their thoughts on road, bridge and safety projects. Comments will be accepted through Friday, August 7th.
