The Madisonville man found passed out in the cab of a Dodge Ram pickup is facing charges. Zachary Thorpe could not produce proof of insurance. After failing the sobriety test, Thorpe was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and the inability to produce proof of insurance.
The Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation is encouraging engineering firms to apply to do local projects from roads to utilities. Some of the projects involve industrial and site development. They suggest contacting the E-D-C via e-mail. The deadline is June 23rd at noon.

The Joint Military Services Innovative Readiness Training accomplishes two things: it provides needed medical help to the public, and it serves to help train the military. When your license plate is not illuminated, you may find yourself in a traffic stop. When that occurred to Benjamin Grayson the other day on Grapevine Road, the officer observed in plain view an orange pill bottle in the back seat. When asked what it was in it, Grayson said marijuana. Then it was found that Grayson was also in possession of a meth pipe. He is now charged with possession of meth and marijuana. A day later, an illegal modified shotgun was found in his vehicle. That’s a crime because Grayson is a convicted felon.
Repairs are being made to a Madisonville street through Friday. McCoy Avenue will be closed between South Scott Street and South Kentucky so crews can perform core-drilling repairs.
Madisonville Community College will observe the Juneteenth holiday on Friday the 19th. The Sanitation and Recycle Departments will be closed. To compensate, the Thursday and Friday will runs will be made tomorrow (Thursday).
The allegations made by the adopted son of the former governor may send him to jail. Jonah Bevin claims his parents abused him for years by sending him to a boarding school. Judge Angela Johnson says Matt Bevin’s attorney had ample time to produce the needed documents, and if that wasn’t possible, they could have submitted an email to the needed parties to show that they’re making an effort. Judge Johnson says she would be happy to rescind the bench warrant if Governor Bevin’s attorney would produce the needed documents.
