Obituary

Linda L. Vanover Robards, 83, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.She was born on August 30, 1942, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Lucille Christine Kirkwood Vanover and Ottury Theodore Vanover. She worked at several restaurants as a cook and waitress. She loved the Lord and enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher for many years. Linda was a member of Lone Star Pentecostal Church. She was a devoted reader who took pleasure in reading the Bible. She succeeded in reading her Bible over thirty-five times. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Vanover, Ronald “Ronnie” Vanover, and Larry Dale Vanover; and her sister, Judy Fambrough.

Her survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Charles H. Robards; sons, Jerry (Cathy) Robards of Madisonville and Timothy (Janene) Robards of Manitou, KY; daughter, Robin (Hayden) Capps of Madisonville; brother, Kenneth (JoAnn) Vanover of Hanson, KY; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Elliott officiating and assisted by Rev. Tony Frederick. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Chris Capps, Timothy Robards, Anthony Tygart, Dylan Robards, Josh Lutz, and Cameron Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Graham Lutz and Jesse Robards.
