The 50 million-dollar Department of Criminal Justice Training West campus is under construction in Madisonville on Nebo Road. At the city commission meeting, Police Chief Steve Bryan gave a progress report.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office says an adult male is recovering from a gunshot wound. They say the unnamed man was treated and released. It occurred on Thursday morning at about 11-30 at 350 Bradley Sisk Road in Madisonville. The sheriff’s office says there is no threat to the community.
The name of the man who lost his life in a single-vehicle collision last Wednesday afternoon on Grapevine Road is known. 42 year old Nathan A. Payne of Evansville was the only person in the Chrysler Town and Country van when it left the road, struck a tree and caught fire.
The Hopkins County Board of Education will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Central Office this afternoon (Monday) at 4:30. The address is 21-35 North Main Street . There will be an open house with self-guided tours and light snacks. An hour later, at 5:30, there will be a Board of Education meeting.
The Hopkins County Tourist & Convention Commission is announcing that their 5th annual Great American Restaurant Race was their most successful. Over 100 restaurants received over 37-thouand dollars. Participants visited 12 different restaurants during the month-long event and submitted the receipts to verify their entries.
The Hopkins County Grand Jury is indicting a man for murder and wanton endangerment. 41-year-old Jeremy Wynn was taken into custody after a domestic abuse charge. Detectives say 47-year-old Hallie Brown was found April 11th at a home on Antioch Church Road in Nebo. Brown passed away at the hospital.
The Habitat for Humanity Pennyrile Region has a new Executive Director. In his 13 years with the organization, Brian Keith has served in multiple leadership roles including the ReStore Manager, Resource Coordinator, and most recently Director of Operations. Keith is replacing Heath Duncan who led the organization for nearly 20 years. Duncan is the new Executive Director of Kentucky Habitat for Humanity.
In Frankfort, the governor believes small businesses are the heart of the American Dream. That’s why Andy Beshear signed an executive order creating the Team Kentucky Council on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
The governor says the council is designed to support, advocate for, and provide leadership to Kentucky’s small businesses.
