The day-long patriotic celebration at Madisonville City Park is tomorrow. Madisonville Salutes will honor service members, veterans, and first responders. The free event is from 3 until 9. In addition to the Traveling Vietnam Wall, the park will host the Cost of Freedom Tribute, the Traveling World War Two Memorial, and a Traveling First Responder Memorial. There will be a fireworks show at 9 o’clock.
The Madisonville man who is accused of distributing at least 20 images of materials involving children under the age of 12 is being held in the Hopkins County Detention Center. 32-year-old Noe Gonzales was arrested on Monday following a tip from the Cyber-tipLine. The Kentucky Office of the Attorney General asked the M-P-D to locate Gonzales on an unrelated warrant out of Webster County.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has details about an automobile fatality on Wednesday afternoon. The driver struck a tree on the eastern edge of the Grapevine Cemetery near Grapevine Road and his Chrysler Town and Country caught fire. The vehicle had an Indiana plate. The name of the driver is not yet released.
This is graduation weekend at our high schools. The MADISONVILLE NORTH HOPKINS Awards Ceremony is this afternoon at 1. The Baccalaureate is Sunday evening at 6 at Victory Church. The graduation is Wednesday, the 20th at 7. The Hopkins Central Awards Ceremony is Sunday at 3 with the Baccalaureate at 5:30. The Graduation will be on Thursday, the 21st at 7. Tickets are required for both graduation ceremonies.

The state is saying the Hopkins County Jail is a safe, clean, and well-operated facility. In the last few days, the Department of Corrections completed a comprehensive inspection. Out of more than 200 compliance points, there was just one noncompliance. In summary, the state said they were proud of the hard work and professionalism displayed by the staff.
Some illegal dumping is being reported around Hopkins County. The fiscal court heard about it from the Sanitation Department.
