The traffic stop of a swerving car in Madisonville is what led to the arrest of its passenger. After conscent was given to search the Hyundai Elantra, Jarred Weideman was found to be in possession of three baggies of meth. Weideman faces two drug charges.

This is the graduation season. The Hopkins County Schools Academy is the first school to hold a ceremony. It’s this evening (Thursday) at 6 in the Hopkins Central gymnasium. The Madisonville North commencement will be on Wednesday, May 20th at 7. Hopkins Central will be the next night, May 21st, at 7.
A former member of the Madisonville American Legion is facing three charges. After their investigation, the police are charging Matthew Martz with theft by deception, forgery, and misrepresenting military status. The police say Martz received over 61-hundred dollars under the assumption that he was a military veteran. They found that Martz never served in the military.
The driver of a Ford Escape with a number of windshield obstructions limiting the view is facing two charges. After receiving permission to search the vehicle, Joey Sherman was charged with trafficking meth and possession of meth.
The Madisonville Salutes event this weekend at City Park will again include the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. It’s a downsized version of the one in Washington D-C, which is the most-visited memorial on the National Mall. Listed on it are the names of the more than 58-thousand who lost their lives. Deputy city administrator Brad Long says it had quite an impact last year.
