A Hopkins County Grand Jury is returning multiple felony indictments. 34-year-old Billy Carter of Madisonville was indicted on charges of first-degree arson and first-degree wanton endangerment. On March 9th. Carter allegedly started a fire at an occupied building near a propane tank. 36-year-old Brittney Monahan faces 11 counts. They include distributing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and trafficking in methamphetamine. 38-year-old Landon Talley is being charged with 15 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
Webster County Emergency Management says their weather alert notification system is designed to automatically deliver alert-notifications. The system reads the full alert message, ensuring you receive complete information. Emergency Management says their system continues to be enhanced. They say the CodeRED emergency notification system is designed to alert residents, if their specific registered address is within a National Weather Service warning polygon.
The state is creating a re-entry campus that’s intended to boost the workforce. Governor Beshear says the Second Chance Month emphasis intends to bring communities and organizations together to raise awareness of the barriers that inmates face upon reentering society.
The reentry campus will be operated by the K-C-T-C-S in the Mercer County town of Burgin on the grounds of Northpoint Training Center.
The new Department of Criminal Justice’s law enforcement training facility in Madisonville will be the largest police training academy in the Commonwealth and will focus specifically on cybercrime. The 50-million dollar facility will bring jobs to Hopkins County and will increase the number of recruits trained each year and get them out on the road faster. The training facility will need 20 full-time employees, who will earn an average salary of 60-thousand dollars.
The arrest of the driver of a swerving car in Madisonville is resulting in two charges. Faith Watkins is charged with driving under the influence and with disorderly conduct. After facing much difficulty in stopping Watkins, the police report states that she appeared to highly impaired. On her way to the detention center, Watkins passed out, and had to be rushed to the E-R where she had to be strapped down with a spit mask over her face.
The Hopkins County teacher who was arrested in Greenville a few days ago is suspended, pending the outcome of the investigation to determine whether he is to return to active service or face disciplinary action. . Matthew McIntosh is charged with assault. He was booked into jail and then released. The school district is legally required to protect information of a personal nature where the public disclosure would constitute an invasion of personal privacy. McIntosh’s arraignment is May 6th.
Congressman James Comer of the House Oversight Committee is talking with the director of the Secret Service. He believes recent events are making it necessary for the agency to conduct a full review of their procedures.
