In the Hopkins County School District, online registration and the annual update through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal are now open for the upcoming school year. Parents may also register new students by utilizing the links found on the district website. This is required for all who will attend Hopkins County schools next year. Only the legal guardian listed for the student in the primary household can complete online registration.
The name of the Greenville woman who died in a traffic accident last week is now known. The police say 70-year-old Glenda Mauk was on Robert L. Draper Way near the high school when when her vehicle left the road and overturned. Mauk’s two passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Dawson Springs Independent School System is offering an interactive educational experience. The Hall of Amazing American Heroes Living Wax Museum will be available tomorrow (Thursday) from 12:30 until 2:30 at the Panther gym. In Hopkins County, the Certified Athletic Administrator of South Hopkins Middle School is the state Athletic Administrator of the Year. Over three decades, Kent Akin has served as teacher, coach, and athletic director in the district.
A Madisonville North football player is a member of the state’s Tom Leach All Resilient Team. Jayden Travis earned first-team all-state honors with 53 catches and was named the Maroons’ best receiver. He also won the award for most pancake blocks.
After years of planning, ground will be broken today in Madisonville for the Western Kentucky Law Enforcement Training Facility. It’s needed to strengthen regional opportunities for Western Kentucky officers by providing professional development without the need for long-distance travel. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System says the generosity of those who participated in this year’s Giving Day will help a number of students stay in school and reach their educational goals. This year, over 16-hundred gifts from almost 14-hundred donors raised over 375-thousand dollars for the 16 campuses. Many of those who will use these funds are working parents, first-generation college students, and adults balancing jobs and family responsibilities.

The arraignment of a Browning Springs Middle School teacher is set for May 9th. After being arrested in Greenville for assault, Matthew McIntosh was booked into the Muhlenberg County Jail, and then released.
