Obituary

Grover Cleveland Travis, 91, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.He was born on May 26, 1934, in Hanson, KY, to the late Nezzie Cooper Travis and Rev. Clarence “C.E.” Travis. Grover retired from Peabody Coal Company. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time at the lake. Grover was known for helping those he met. He loved attending church at Concord General Baptist where he was a member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Jo Ann Messamore Travis; and numerous brothers and sisters.

His survivors include his sons, Barry (Amy) Travis, Terry (Laurie) Travis, and Steven Travis, all of Madisonville; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Fleming officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Ben Travis, Max Travis, Patrick Travis, Heath McCormick, John Ashby, and Matthew Travis.
