On WKY 104.9’s Shop Local, host Leesa Boone interviews Madisonville Deputy City Administrator’s Brad Long about Luke 14 Ministries and its work in Guatemala through the bilingual Christian Amor y Gracia School. Long explains the ministry’s mission, local outreach efforts, and how the Guatemala school has grown from 20–30 students to more than 130, now serving six grades plus a middle school after-school program with a waiting list. He highlights support beyond academics, including English instruction, a nutrition program addressing widespread malnutrition, and in-house psychological services, funded through sponsors and community support. Boone promotes fundraising efforts such as the “A Day with Mateo” coloring book (available at Bluegrass Pharmacy or online) and invites listeners to the April 13 banquet at First United Methodist Church to learn more, sponsor students, and support the school. Long also shares plans for a July Guatemala trip with Beth El Ministry to distribute mobility devices, build houses, and deliver food and Bibles, encouraging donations and participation.
