Orville Durwood “Woody” Oglesby, 88, of Lexington, KY, passed away peacefully and went to heaven on February 15, 2026. Born on June 13, 1937, in Madisonville, KY, to Herschel and Bessie (Davis) Oglesby, Woody lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, devotion, and quiet strength. Following his two years of service in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Hawaii, Woody dedicated himself to his work, his community, and most importantly, his family. He retired from Holland Dairy in Owensboro, KY. He was an ordained deacon at Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Owensboro, where he faithfully served for many years. After moving to Lexington, KY, where he resided for the past 16 years, he was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church. Woody was known for his steady presence and kind heart. He was always a friend to anyone, never met a stranger. Whether sharing stories from his Army days, offering advice, or simply enjoying time with those he loved, he made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Oglesby (Cron), with whom he shared 66 cherished years of marriage. He also leaves behind his beloved nephews, Jason (Jayme) Rogers and their four children—Hannah, Jase, Jacob, and Hayleigh—and Randy (Tammy) Rogers and their two children, Tyler (Miranda) and Trevor; as well as two great-great-nephews, Colton and Hukston. They all brought him great pride and joy when they called him “Uncle Woody.” He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Rogers; his sister, Dianne McGuire; his brothers, Ronnie Dean and Billy Wayne Oglesby; and many other Oglesby nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Barnett Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside burial at Grapevine Cemetery.
