Janice Arlene Calhoun, 63

Janice Arlene Calhoun, 63, of Hanson, Kentucky, was taken from us suddenly on February 8, 2026. She was born November 13, 1962, in McLeansboro, Illinois to Jack and Dorothy (Barrett) Lykins. Janice worked for the Calhoun family business for many years, but her greatest joy and proudest role in life was that amongst her family. She was a devoted wife, married to her husband, John Calhoun, for nearly 40 cherished years, where they built a life centered around family, faith, and unwavering support for one another. She was not only a loving and supportive mother to her own daughters, but she treated many like her own, always ready with open arms, wise advice or a listening ear. She served as a Girl Scout Troop leader for both daughters, guiding them and their friends with encouragement and confidence. She was an active member at Christ the King Church, volunteering when able and living out her faith through quiet acts of kindness and compassion. She was a kind and gentle soul who kept her strength, positivity, and faith until the very end. She has finally rejoined her father, Jack Lykins, along with the rest of those that she loved who passed before her. The lives left behind feel the significant impact of her loss, especially her husband, John Calhoun, who stayed by her side until the end; her mother, Dorothy Lykins; daughters Lindsay (Chris) Davis, and Cara Calhoun, whose partner of 7 years, Bryce Fussner, and his son, Ryder Fussner, who have become cherished family; siblings Gary (Karen) Lykins, Jackie (Rick) Whitledge, and Greg (Cheryl) Lykins. These are just a few along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends that will feel the loss of such a kind and gentle soul. Words cannot express the grief and loss felt by those she left behind, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of all she helped, comforted, and cherished, and comfort is found in warm memories and kind words shared by those she touched. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Barnett-Strother’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Christ the King Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM February 12, 2026 at Christ the King Church in Madisonville with Father Steve officiating. Paulbearers will be Michael Calhoun, Nick Calhoun, Chris Davis, Bryce Fussner, Sean Jones, and Dalton Lykins.
