In Hopkins County, the Sheriff’s Office has a new app to share public safety information. The Neighbors app enables the county to post updates or events. The county says they are committed to protecting constitutional rights, respecting privacy, and maintaining transparency. Residents can receive updates and post photos or videos from any device. The app is free on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Amazon Appstore.
Police officers can run a license plate anytime they desire. When it happened the other day near the Cross Creek Apartments, the officer discovered that Kendra Young was driving with a suspended license. Records also show that Young had done this twice before.
The Hopkins County Humane Society is focused on renovating the Dulin Street building as they re-group after the loss of their main building from a spring storm. The Dulin Street facility is not as big as what they had, but it’s believed that it can fill the gap until the new building is complete.
That’s County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield. The new 2-million dollar building will at the site of the old one. It will be paid for by the county, the city, and the humane society itself.
The Pennyrile Area Development District is asking for feedback in regards to their new area plan. The plan focuses on their priorities, goals, and strategies to support older adults and individuals with the greatest need. To see it, visit the PADD Facebook page. Additionally, they have planned a public hearing at their office for Tuesday, the 24th at 9.
The National Weather Service says above normal temperatures in the 50’s are likely next week through Wednesday.
A driver who was pulled over by the police on I-69 because a brake light was out, it being charged with two drug crimes. The drug dog Arkham discovered Christopher Laureano was in possession of suspected meth and a glass smoking device.
A free afterschool program for students in grades 5 to 12 begins on Monday, the 9th. The founder of Light of Chance says the program been giving young people a place where they feel seen, supported and empowered. Eric Logan says the Breathe Youth Arts Program features creative writing, music, visual arts, dance, and the culinary Arts. The Light of Chance meetings are held at held at 18 North Main Street.
Webster County Emergency Management says the boil order advisories are still in effect. The locations are the cities of Clay, Dixon, Slaughters, and the water customers in Providence on Gulf Street and all areas west of Gulf Street, including Diamond.
This month, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office is conducting proactive traffic enforcement patrols in order to improve highway safety. Drivers who encounter a checkpoint are asked to wear their seatbelts and have their driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration readily available to help minimize delays. Officials said most checkpoints should result in traffic delays of approximately 30 seconds to a few minutes.
