The Hopkins County Fiscal Court will convene this morning at 10. The meeting at the Government Center will include reports from several department heads, including the County Attorney, county clerk, and the jailer.
In Madisonville, the Annexation and Zoning Committee will meet today (Tuesday) at 4 in the City Council Chambers Conference Room, at 77 North Main Street. The agenda includes a discussion of the Manufactured Housing Text Amendment.
The city council meets at 4:30. The agenda includes consideration of an executive order relating to the appointment of City Council committee assignments.
The Kentucky State Police want you to know about the new secure digital version of a state I-D. It can be used at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at more than 250 airports. Under Kentucky law, law enforcement officers can only accept a physical driver’s license during a traffic stop. Here is reporter Naitore DJigbenou (nigh-TORRY JIB-uh-new).
A digital ID does not replace your physical driver’s license. They say even if you use a Mobile I-D, always carry a hard copy of your driver’s license.
The governor and his delegation will be in Switzerland this week to attend the World Economic Forum. The trip follows the announcement that last year, Kentucky recorded the second-best year for new investments within the private sector. It resulted from 185 new-location and expansion announcements that are projected to create close to 10-thousand full time jobs. The Governor’s visit to Europe will be building on the best six-year period for economic growth in state history.
The leaders of Hopkins County and Madisonville say they are are using a new plan to attract industry. County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield says they have found that industries want a location that is site ready.
In Hopkins County, the Regional Chamber of Commerce is beginning to promote the annual State of the Cities and County Address. It will bring together top local officials to focus on community progress, challenges, and decisions that are impacting businesses and families. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available from the Chamber of Commerce. The event is set for Thursday, March 5th at 7:30 in the morning at the Ballard Convention Center
Frankfort says the Recommended Highway Plan features more than 13-hundred projects to build and maintain safer, more efficient roads and bridges. It also will advance major bi-state projects that bring jobs and investments. The Governor’s highway plan is a data-informed six-year guide. Funding for the first two years of the plan will be allocated by this year’s session of the General Assembly. The top focus is to fix and maintain Kentucky’s roads and bridges. Kentucky is one of the top ten states for bridges and pavement.
Hopkins County Jail Community Service Road Crews are focusing on the jail garden. They are presently building compost areas. The garden directly supports meal service. It also serves as a valuable teaching moment by providing hands-on experience, responsibility, and skills that encourage positive growth and accountability.
