Obituary
She was born on October 3, 1949, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Clara Beth Fox Vaughn and C. W. Vaughn. She retired from Trover Clinic where she worked in insurance billing. She enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for those that she loved and adored her dog, Susie. She had a passion for feeding any animal that walked through her yard. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sharon was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, William Daniel “Danny” Simons; and her son-in-law, Richard “Ritch” Metcalfe.
Her survivors include her son, Wade (Kim) Simons of St. Charles, KY; daughter, Allison Metcalfe of Madisonville; brother, Barry Vaughn of Madisonville; grandchildren, Shelby Simons and Brandon (Aubrie) Simons; step-grandchildren, David (Shana) Metcalfe and Jennifer (James) Metcalfe-Dube; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Addie, Cash, Octavia, and Beckett; several nieces and nephews; and her precious dog, Susie.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Easley officiating. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington, KY.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Matt Vaughn, James Dube, David Metcalfe, Matt Allen, Kevin Cotton, and Chris Nichols.
