The state police are investigating the death of a pedestrian. 70-year-old Joseph Davis of Nortonville lost his life late Tuesday afternoon on U-S 41 in Nortonville. The K-S-P says Davis was standing in the road when he was hit by a Hopkins County driver. More details are expected.
The Hopkins County Jail is announcing another scam. They report that some citizens are receiving calls that demand they pay their fine over the phone. They say if you receive such a call, hang up immediately.
The state legislative session is underway. The 60-day event in Frankfort runs through April 15th. Keith West says this year’s gathering is in a different location.
Due to the increase in respiratory viruses, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is implimenting visitor restrictions. Visitors will be kept to a minimum. No children under 18 are allowed. Anyone with a cold, respiratory illness or flu symptoms is asked to stay away. The hospital is encouraging everyone to exercise good hand hygiene.
Webster County Emergency Management says their new and improved emergency reverse‑phone notification system is being installed. Among other things, text alerts will now be delivered as standard text messages rather than email‑to‑text. The new Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is about to go into service. Everyone is welcomed to the Ribbon Cutting and an Open House at 2-61 Responders Lane on Tuesday, the 13th at noon. The building is next to the West Ky Archery Complex. They sheriff’s office will be closed in Madisonville location beginning tomorrow (Friday), and will reopen at the new location on Tuesday, the 13th.
The Madisonville driver who was seen by the police running through a red light is facing several charges. When Thomas Morgan was stopped on Thompson Avenue, he told the officer that he had been drinking whiskey. The sobriety test verified that Morgan was intoxicated.
The winter crisis program for low-income residents facing a home-heating emergency is back for another year. LIHEAP (LIE-heep) applications will be accepted on a first come-first served basis, or until funds are gone. Those who qualify must meet income guidelines and provide proof of income. At the local level, Community Action Kentucky manages the LIHEAP program.
A survey is being taken in Muhlenberg County. It’s for parents and guardians of public school students. Social media has the Q-R code. The deadline to participate is the 15th.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer says taxpayers were defrauded of billions of dollars in Minnesota. On Fox News, he said Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison either failed to act or were complicit in allowing the theft to occur.
