Obituary
He was born on February 4, 1961, in Clifton Springs, NY, to the late Alice Louise Kneut Klahn and James Henry Klahn. He was a self-employed electrician. Matthew was an amazingly intelligent and loving man. He was very interested in U.S. History. He was an active member of Clamper E.C.V., a historical society, three times the Humbug (President) and even started his own “Copper Queen” chapter in Yerington, NV. He was the active president of the Western Kentucky Chapter of the National Historic Railroad Association in Madisonville, KY, as well as the President of the Hanson Community Club.
Matthew is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Clausing Smith; son, Noah Galusha of Henderson, KY; brother, Christopher Klahn of New York; sister, Mary Ann Lynch of New York; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dogs, Poe and Ricochet.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Hanson United Methodist Church, 2740 Brown Badgett Loop, Hanson, KY 42413 with Pastor Karla Fullwood officiating. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the church.
