On Nov. 28, Richard Wayne Eagle, 87 years old, joyfully stepped into the presence of his Lord Jesus. Mr. Eagle was born on May 18, 1938 in Washington, Indiana, to the late Robert Norwood Eagle and Wilma Irene (Day) Eagle. He spent his childhood helping his parents on their family farm. At the age of 13, his entrepreneurial father, moved his family to Henderson, ky, to open a grocery store. Richard went on to graduate from Henderson County High school, in 1956, where he excelled in playing football. After graduation, Mr. Eagle went to Indianapolis, Indiana, to study radiology. He graduated from Methodist Hospital Radiology school in May of 1959. In June of 1959, Mr Eagle moved to Madisonville, Ky. where he worked as an X-ray technician at Madisonville Hospital. In July of 1959, Richard met the love of his life, Judith Ann (Plain) Eagle, in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen. They were married on October 15, 1960. They recently celebrated 65 yrs of marriage. In 1969, Richard made a career change and worked for Peabody Coal Co. until August 2003. He thoroughly enjoyed operating heavy equipment and the camaraderie of his coworkers. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. Richard and Judy gave their lives to the service of the Lord in May of 1964. They had a love for children and the Sunday school ministry. Under the leadership of their pastor, Rev. Jimmy Russell, at the Greater Lighthouse Pentecostal church, they worked faithfully to increase the number of children receiving the good news of Jesus through the Sunday School ministry. Mr. Eagle was a current member of the Lone Star Pentecostal Church where in years past he served on the church board. Many knew him as a ” gentle giant”. He was a man of few words. He loved his friends and enjoyed their many nights at the DQ. Mr. Eagle was also preceded in death by his best friend, Wesley Hunt; who was like a brother to him. Mr. Eagle is survived by his wife, Judy. His daughter, Cristy ( Larry) Tomes, His son, Rick (Kris) Eagle; his grandson, Eric (Nichole) Eagle, his granddaughter Laryn (Seth) Shephard and his great grandchildren Mason Eagle, Reid Eagle, Ryan Eagle, Ivy Shephard and Violet Shephard. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 1, 2025, and from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home
