Here on Black Friday, the Kentucky Retail Federation says scams frequently involve false claims that an arrest warrant can be cleared with prepaid cards. They say the bad guys often begin their scheme with a call, text or email that claims immediate payment is required to avoid arrest or legal action. The Administrative Office of the Courts says the scammers often pressure people to buy gift cards to resolve a supposed arrest warrant.
The Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of a shoplifter. They reported that when they approached Josie Crafton at the Ideal Market on Princeton Road, she had an opened a bottle of Gatorade and bag of potato chips. Since she exhibited the characteristics of an intoxicated person, they checked her backpack and found needles of suspected meth.
Those involved in aviation in Hopkins County are mourning the passing of Richard Kolodey (coe-LOW-dee). He has passed away at the age of 100. Kolodey was a Marine Corps radio gunner in the Solomon Islands during World War 2. The airport staff say he visited the airport often and reminded them why aviation matters, why community matters, and why honoring those who came before us, is part of who we are.
The philanthropic arm of Humana says Kentucky ranks 46th among all states in overall senior health status. The Humana Foundation says food insecurity among Kentucky’s 65-and-older population is on the rise. The research also points to the strong relationship between food insecurity and the mental health of seniors. Loneliness and lack of social support are also significantly associated with the higher odds of being food insecure.

It’s being reported that the house fire in Central City around sunrise Thanksgiving morning affected four homes. The house with the original fire was completely destroyed. It was in the 700 block of North Second Street. Officials say no one was home. It’s also being reported that Atmos confirmed the home had a gas leak.
One person is recovering from a two-vehicle collision Monday morning just before 6. The Madisonville police say at North Main and Y-M-C-A Drive, 39-year-old Joe Robinson pulled in front of the Toyota Camry being driven by 73-year-old Vaughn Cook. Robinson said that he didn’t see the Cook car because its lights were not on. Cook suffered minor injuries and visited the E-R.
The M-P-D has the details about a dating violence case on East McLaughlin Avenue. Anna Tolliver is being charged with assault. Her boyfriend told the police that during an argument, she punched him in the shoulder. It was described as a minor injury.
The U-S Representative for this district believes the America First agenda is going to work. James Comer says it appears that it’s forcing some companies who have invested in manufacturing overseas to return to our country.
