The National Weather Service says an Arctic blast with snow could show up in Kentucky in early December.
Yes, Hopkins County now has a winter farmers market. The Hopkins County Farmers Market is partnering with Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville to make it happen. All winter, some of the vendors will set up every other Thursday in the lobby of the hospital with season produce. Again, it’s will be every other Thursday from 7 until 1 in the hospital lobby. Check the farmer’s market Facebook page for the dates.
Here is the Madisonville trash and recycle schedule. Today, (the 25th) the city will runs the Tuesday and Wednesday routes. On Wednesday, the city will run the Thursday and Friday routes.
Back, due to popular demand this Christmas season, is the ice skating rink. It’s synthetic ice, so if it’s warmer and sunny, the skating will not be affected. Caleb Nelson of Parks and Recreation says the rink will be slightly larger this year. He also says… (Clip in audio below)
The executive board representative of the Muhlenberg County Tourism Commission believes the region has a future in motion picture production. Last week, Sean Mooningham was in a group from Kentucky that traveled to Los Angeles to participate in the American Film Festival. He says Western Kentucky has the chance to be offered attractive incentives for film production that would create meaningful opportunities for a number of communities. Mooningham says there will be a community event on January 5th to learn how the Film Commission will benefit Muhlenberg County.
7WESTERN KENTUCKY 1124 The National Weather Service says a cold front will bring much colder air to the region Wednesday through at least Saturday.
20MADISONVILLE 1122 The new auxiliary gym and storm shelter is now in service at Madisonville North. The local Director of Emergency Management says the facility will provide safe refuge during stormy weather to over one-thousand persons. Nick Bailey says it’s possible a number of other weather-proof buildings may be constructed.
33MADISONVILLE 1121 More and more healthcare systems are recognizing burnout among physicians. Owensboro Health has has begun an effort to improve physician well-being. It’s believed that there is a national shortage of physicians. The Chief Operating Officer of the Owensboro Health Medical Group says he conducts a staff survey every two years that that has proven to help meet the needs of its physicians. Mack Howell also says no physician enters the field to do the administrative work, such as dictating notes or dealing with insurance companies.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the recovery of a stolen vehicle on Sunday. It was located in Sebree at the Ideal Gas Station and two suspects were arrested. Christopher Courtney and Mason Blair face a number of charges that include drug infractions. Central Dispatch notified the sheriff’s office of the theft.
Hemp advocates in Kentucky are saying federal decisions could cripple their industry. Uncle Sam effectively wants to ban most hemp products. Many say capping the T-H-C in hemp products would nearly ban every product on the shelves. One hemp supporter is fighting back. Here is Senator Rand Paul. (Clip in audio below)
