The deal for a Canadian-based plastics packaging producer to add over 160 jobs to Madisonville-Hopkins County is moving along. E. Hoffman Packaging hopes to start building in a few weeks. Kelly Forbes of the E-D-C says it will be a phased in approach. (Clip in audio below) Hoffman Packaging hopes to be in their building by the end of next year.
The National Association of Development Organizations is awarding the city of Madisonville and the Pennyrile Area Development District with its annual award. What earned the Aliceann Wohlbruck (VOL-brook) Impact Award is the Madisonville Regional Law Enforcement Training Center. State and local government agencies secured support and resources to repurpose a 20-thousand square-foot city-wned facility into a regional law enforcement training hub, that reduces travel and financial burdens previously faced by agencies who had to send officers to Richmond. The facility will soon include an upgraded 9-1-1 Emergency Operations Center and Real Time Crime Center.
Here are the details about a Madisonville traffic stop. The officer witnessed Latasha Adamson fail to use her turn signal on West Noel. He learned that she had no auto insurance, and this was her second offense. Adamson was placed under arrest and her vehicle was towed away.

An independent national watchdog focused on patient safety is giving an A-hospital safety grade to Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville. The Leapfrog Group assigns a letter-grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-measured patient’s safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Patient Safety grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States.
Emergency vehicles are not supposed to crash, but they do. The National Safety Council says almost 200 persons die in emergency vehicles annually. The state police say the move over laws are supposed to reduce these kinds of accidents. “The law specifically says that if you see an emergency vehicle that includes tow trucks, and anything with flashing lights, the driver is to move to the farthest lane. If the lane is taken, then safely slow way down.
The American Red Cross is attempting to make blood donation more attractive. Since more donors are needed to help keep the blood supply on track through the holidays, while supplies last, those who give between November 17th and December 7th will receive an exclusive pair of Red Cross-x PAC-MAN socks. In Hopkins County, the Career & Technology Center is celebrating ten years of career excellence. The venue on Patriot Drive will host a come-and-go open house with tours of each of the six departments. It will be on Tuesday, the 18th, from 4 until 6.
The art display at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts is about to come down. Over 100 pieces make up the 2025 Juried Art Exhibit & Juried Photography Exhibit. The gallery is always free. The final day is Monday the 17th.
