The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is charging a patient with assaulting a healthcare worker at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville last month. The sheriff’s office says Jalaysia Robinson of Madisonville intended to cause physical injury. She even struck the healthcare worker while she was on the floor. The victim supplied photos of her injuries to the sheriff’s office. Robinson was arrested by the state police on October 30th.
In Madisonville, the police are charging a convicted felon with possession of a handgun. The police arrived after a South Kentucky Avenue resident reported locating a handgun under a water hose reel. The officer made contact with Ryan Hopkins. He told the officer that he located the handgun and decided to hide it under the water hose. After a search warrant was granted, the police searched Hopkins’ home. They They found a lock box with the same ammunition that was loaded inside the weapon. Central Dispatch then notified the officer that Hopkins was a felon.
The growth of Madisonville is a common conversation. City engineer Justin Lamb says while the city has not shown a fast growth rate, many think that will be changing. Lamb is one of them. (Clip in audio below)
The Kentucky Community and Technical College System has a new agreement with Morehead State University. K-C-T-C-S students desiring to attend M-S-U will now find that their credits will transfer more seamlessly which often relates to a savings in time and money.
In Hopkins County, Christmas Eve will be a holiday this year. Since Christmas falls on Thursday, the state has included Friday, the 26th, as a holiday. Under these circumstancs, the fiscal court has voted to include Christmas Eve.
The Small Business Administration is making a last call to those impacted by the May tornadoes. A representative addressed the Hopkins County Fiscal Court this week. He said that there are economic, injury, and disaster loans. He also said… (Clip in audio below) The deadline to apply is February.
The M-P-D is reporting a 2-vehicle collision that sent one person to the E-R with neck injuries. The police say 60-year-old Steven Clark of Nortonville struck the rear bumper of the Honda Accord being driven by 61-year-old Jonna Vaughn of Madisonville. It occurred at Island Ford Road and Whittington Drive just before 3 PM on Tuesday. Injured was a passenger: 51-year-old Stacy Clark of Madisonville.
Frankfort says more than 600-thousand Kentuckians are waiting for food assistance as the government shutdown continues. According to reports, the Trump administration plans to dole out partial benefits in the midst of the shutdown, telling a Rhode Island federal judge that it would “tap billions of dollars in contingency funds to pay half of the normal amount of SNAP benefits this month as the government shutdown persists. President Trump posted on social media that SNAP benefits quote… will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do. End of quote.
