A Hanson woman is receiving medical treatment for a possible life-threatening injury following an act of domestic violence on Saturday evening at her home. At about 6:25, the sheriff’s office received a call to check on a person’s welfare. During the call, the victim’s mother heard screaming in the residence on Responders Lane,. When deputies arrived, the injured victim and the suspect were sitting in the living room. 47-year-old Hallie Brown was unable to communicate due to her life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a trama center. Taken into custody was 41-year-old Jeremy Winn of Hanson. He is charged with Assault and Wanton Endangerment.
In Hopkins County, the Public Works Sanitation Department is making a request. They say too many people are including regular trash in their recycle bin.
The Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce is in the process of moving to a new location. It’s at 38 West Arch Street, the site of the old train station. The chamber is also looking for a new president. Applications are being accepted. The chamber reports that they are also overhauling many existing events, bylaws, and procedures.
A new Kentucky law allows for school buses to utilize cameras to record any vehicle that passes them when when the stop arm is deployed. Private vendors and manufacturers will be contracted to install, operate and maintain the camera. Violators will pay a 300-dollar fine, followed by 500-dollars for an additional offense.
The annual supersized Hopkins County Job Expo and Career Fair is tomorrow. It will be at the Ballard from 9:30 until 2:30.
A swerving driver on West Noel Avenue is what drew the attention of the police. Their report states that Kenneth Gunn had multiple items hanging from his rear view mirror that were obstructing his view. He also had the characteristics of an intoxicated person. After failing the sobriety test, Gunn was transported to the county jail.
The Hopkins County Humane Society is pleased to announce that the fiscal court has approved 5-thousand dollars toward a community spay-neuter program. The figure will be matched by the Humane Society Board. To help stretch funding, the outpatient program will require a small co-pay of 50-dollars per dog and 25-dollars per cat. If needed, microchipping will be required at the time of surgery.

The state is in the process of creating a re-entry college campus. The specialized prison education at the Northpoint Training Center in Boyle County involves the Kentucky Community & Technical College System. President Ryan Quarles says the first-of-its-kind reentry campus will increase second-chance opportunities that will help the state to fill vital positions across our economy. He says this initiative will save taxpayer dollars, reduce crime and fill critical workforce gaps.
