Many would say that the state needs more Driver Licensing Regional Offices, so that’s now the plan. The Transportation Cabinet says all of the offices will begin having Saturday hours from 8 until 11-30. They will not offe driver and permit testing services since that’s done by the state police. The Madisonville office is at 56 Federal Place which is next to the police station.
The Hopkins County Jail’s new partnership is expected to help ensure that when a child is impacted by the incarceration or release of a parent, trusted adults in their school can provide support, understanding, and care. The jail now has an agreement with the school district and EQUUS Leadership Solutions on the creation of the ARK Alert program. Leadership expects the program to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

The M-P-D is reporting an arrest involving an Emergency Protection Order violation. Alexandia Ipox was transported to the county’s detention center after it was discovered that she had visited Bright Beginnings Daycare on North Daves Street to see her child. In Hopkins County, the fiscal court will be giving the humane society 5-thousand dollars this year to help fund the spay and neutering program. The matter was voted on this week.
A student at Hopkins Central is receiving national attention. In Orlando, Josie Walker has been crowned the United States of America’s Teen 2026 for Kentucky. In the competition, she excelled across five categories. Josie additionally earned the prestigious Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award. She says her title is much more than a crown and sash. To her, it’s a platform to lead, serve, and inspire.
