The Madisonville police have the report of the woman who spent several hours at the Denny’s Restaurant on Center Street. They report that Shelly Madison spent much of that time in the restroom. The police report states that she appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. When the contents of her purse were revealed, there was evidence of marijuana-use with a broken glass device, and a loose bud of marijuana. Besides the drug crimes, Madison is also charged with theft of services.
The state police are investigating a Saturday shooting in Muhlenberg County of a Todd County man. Facing seven charges is 62-year-old Harvey Lear of Beech Creek Road in Muhlenberg County. The victim was treated at the E-R. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact authorities.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting two drug arrests on Saturday. The incident began as a traffic stop on State Route 109 north of Clay that was due to an equipment violation. Nicholas Brown and passenger Samantha Wall were found to have methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in their possession. Brown faces 9 charges, including failure to use a child restraint, and not displaying a registration plate. Wall faces three charges.
The problem with a hole that developed on I-69 in Hopkins County should be corrected very soon. Yesterday, a hole opened alongside the northbound fast lane of I-69 at mile marker 111. Both the north and southbound slow lanes were closed overnight to allow the flowable-fill time to cure. It was determined that the damage was caused by mine subsidence. It has been confirmed that coal mining occurred at this location more than 60 years ago.
The man arrested for riding a dirt bike on a road without a headlight or tail light a few days ago is now facing drug charges. The police report states Robert Keown had instructed an acquaintance to visit the Coleman Street area and search for a bag a meth he had tossed into the weeds as he was being chased by the police. A neighbor phoned the cops about the suspicious man who was looking for something in the weeds. James Ramsey and the police discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Also found was a handgun with flanged ammunition. Now, Keown and Ramsey are facing drug charges.
The questions about crime in taxpayer-supported social programs to the House Oversight Committee seems to be unending. On C-B-S, Congressman James Comer says the committee has its work cut out for them, as they begin to evaluate the magnitude of the crime in California.
Comer estimates three and a half billion dollars has been lost in California.

The Madisonville Lions Club is tipping its hat to the Kentucky Athletic Administrators Associations’ Middle School Athletic Administrator of the Year. The honor belongs to the Athletic Director at South Hopkins Middle School, and fellow Lion, Kent Akin.
