Bernard Smith, 58, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville. He was born on November 15, 1967, in Evansville, IN to the late Benard Smith and Betty Jo McElvain Smith. Bernard worked in telecommunications for the State of Kentucky for 25 years. During his free time, you could find Bernard tending to his garden or out fishing. He enjoyed homesteading and even had a YouTube channel called “Bub’s Getting Started on Homesteading”, where others could gain inspiration. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Janis Metcalfe Smith of Madisonville; one daughter, Georgia Fay Smith of Madisonville; six sisters, Joyce (Paul) Harsch of Massachusetts, Sandy Howell of Evansville, Darlene (Dan) Havener of Georgia, Pam (Mike) Titzer of Powderly, KY, Loretta Hall of Louisville, KY, and Amy Jo (Bobby) Tyson of Madisonville, LA; one uncle, Aloysius; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Barnett-Strother Funeral Home was entrusted with care.
