Obituary
He was born on March 4, 1952, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Nannie Bell Corbitt Hancock and Fletcher Leroy Hancock. He was formerly employed with the City of Madisonville and worked in the Wastewater Department. He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid UK Basketball fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. David was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, April Dawn Hallum; brothers, Bobby Hancock, Eugene Hancock, and Floyd Hancock; and his sisters, Mary Hawkins, Ruthie Poe, and Karen Caraway.
He is survived by wife of fifty-five years, Norma Young Hancock of Madisonville; sons, David (Beth) Earl Hancock, Jr. and Jason Earl Hancock, both of Madisonville; sisters, Shirley Richardson of Anton, KY, Ruby Horton of Arkoma, OK, and Gail Farris of Madisonville; brother, John (Anna) Hancock of Madisonville; grandchildren, Josh (Katelynn) Hancock, Kayla (Andrew) Cranor, Rebecca Hallum, and Donovan Hallum; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Sean Dame officiating. Burial to follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are David Hancock, Jason Hancock, Josh Hancock, Andrew Cranor, Donovan Hallum, and Steve Hallum. Honorary pallbearers are John Hancock, Edward Sizemore, and Orlando Mata.
